Organic lettuce, personal advice and the Rolls-Royce of Broadband: Telecoms World take to the radio
On 19th January 2021, our Head of UK Sales, Keith Bird, became one of the very latest interviewees on the Business Bunker radio show and podcast on Channel Radio 2. Keith was interviewed for over forty minutes for episode 512 of the long-established and much-respected show, which has a studio based in Kent.
Hosts Paul Andrews and Jules Serkin were their usual lively and entertaining selves in what is always a must-listen show with hundreds of back episodes available to listen to as well. Any determination Keith may have had to stick to talking about telecoms was rapidly lost as his home interior design and the prospect of selling Jules organic lettuce came up instead. Even so, Keith was able to recount the story of Telecoms World as a family business that has grown since being founded in 2002. Keith went on to talk about our pride in advising and genuinely helping clients from solo and small businesses, through to corporate and government clients including areas of the NHS.

Keith talked about his enjoyable ride since joining Telecoms World, through to being forced by the pandemic and lockdown to largely abandon his beloved sales telephone handset in the office and to work from home a lot more, using headsets even as he helped clients to embrace remote working and to manage teams at a distance by using new technology. The importance of good broadband to all this was made clear, as Jules said, When your broadband goes down, its like your leg has been cut off.
Keith described some of our services that help clients to win more business and the pleasure he feels in making a difference for them. As he said, If theyre successful, were successful. Tools like our pocket landline and the rise of affordable broadband lease lines the Rolls-Royce of connectivity came up in this context. He and Jules agreed that small businesses are the backbone the troopers of the economy.
Paul talked about the difficulties customers face in talking with the industry giants of telecoms as there is a big disconnect from the customer its incredibly difficult to have a conversation. By contrast, and before giving his own contact details on air, Keith talked about his pleasure in taking the pain out of telecoms, concluding, Whether spending twenty million pounds or two thousand, people like personal advice and to have their hands held a little bit.
