Vodafone reports 50% rise in internet use says The Guardian

According to The Guardian, the recent surge in the number of people working from home has increased Vodafone internet usage by up to 50%. This is due to family members staying home and using the internet for personal use such as streaming services, as well as employees working from home.

According to Vodafone, they often see spikes during lunch time hours, whilst peak usage remains between 6pm to 8pm. Chief executive, Nick Read, advised that the network has implemented a five-point plan to support communities and governments during this time of isolation. This includes increasing capacity across its networks for hospitals and doctor surgeries to assist with connectivity for healthcare workers.

“Covid-19 is already having a significant impact on our services and placing a greater demand on our network. We should expect this trend of data growth to continue.”

Openreach owners, BT, has advised that it can handle the large increases in internet and data usage that is predicted over the coming months across the UK.

How can we help?

We are also seeing an increase in web traffic across the data networks, and with a number of businesses now implementing home working measures, we want to make things easier for your business to run quickly and smoothly.

We provide an ‘Office in a Box’ solution, providing home workers with super-fast 4G SIM. Our online lookup tool is used to identify which network has the fastest speeds and greatest resilience in your local area. Your single 4G SIM with ‘unlimited’ data is then assigned to the selected network and dispatched to the workers home address with either a Mi-Fi device (best for laptops and mobile devices) or 4G enabled router (best for network cabling and dedicated IP addresses).

SIM cards and internet devices are set up within 24 hours, however, we recommend that you allow up to 5 working days for postage.
